Judge Camille Buras of New Orleans; cheating loser

The state of Louisiana presented Camille G. Buras with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Yale University Law School.

In one recent (ca. July 2015) matter, Judge Buras laughingly offered an apology for collecting unemployment benefits that she was not lawfully entitled too. Buras’ so-called apology which was published in The Times-Picayune goes like this:

“I, Camille Buras, publicly apologize for my past receipt of certain employment benefits paid to me or on my behalf at public expense since my taking office as a judge of the Orleans Criminal District Court, benefits which I ended in 2012.”

“Additionally, because of the public controversy my receipt of these benefits has caused, which cast doubt on the public trust in me as a judge and raised the appearance of impropriety, I have now begun repayment of the costs and benefits to the Judicial Expense Fund of the court.”

Apparently, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission made a deal with Judge Buras that she wouldn’t face any discipline if she agreed to pay back the money she stole from the state.

As we speak (ca. August 2015), Buras remains sitting as a Judge in New Orleans.
