Former Judge Craig Fletcher of Marshall, TX; ethical gremlin

The state of Texas presented Craig A. Fletcher with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from Texas Wesleyan University Law School.

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Craig guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was sitting as a Cherokee County Court of Law Judge in Rusk, Texas.

In one matter, Craig singed off on a case assigned to District Court Judge Bascom Bentley that involved a case involving a child molester. It appears that Craig and Judge Bentley had an arrangement in regards to cases involving sexual molestation cases.

Judge Bentley and Craig agreed to reduce by fiat the felony parole requirements of Rusk, Texas sex offender Rebecca Blankenship. In 2012, Blankenship’s petition to the Judge Bentley was accepted, granted, and illegally moved to misdemeanor court to keep it off the felony record.

One must wonder what kind of relationship existed between Judge Bentley, Judge Fletcher and Rebecca that caused them to cut her some slack by taking affirmative steps to assure that she wouldn’t be classified as a felonious child molester and sex offender.

Rather than wait to see what punishment the Texas Supreme Court would mete out, Craig resigned from the bench.

As we speak (July 2015), Craig practices law at 110 South Bolivar in Marshall, Texas.
