Judge Denise Nau of Cheyenne, WY; ethical gremlin

The State of Wyoming presented Denise Nau with a law license in 1982 after she graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Law.

It should be noted that former Gov. Jim Geringer was duped into appointing Denise as a First Judicial District Circuit Judge in 1996. Denise didn’t get the appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the greater Cheyenne area. She got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In an October 2018 rating by the Wyoming Bar Association for Craig’s retention by the voters in the January 2019 election, the State Bar vote established that 37.3% of the respondents opposed Denise’s retention by the voters. In specific areas, the Bar members voted as follows.

  • Courteousness/politeness: 43.4% strongly/somewhat  disapprove
  • Open-mindedness/impartiality: 38.6% strongly/somewhat  disapprove

Hopefully the voters in the Cheyenne area are astute enough to not vote to retain someone that nearly 40% of attorneys have determined is not qualified to be retained. Moreover, when over 40% of the lawyers that appear in Denise’s court believe she failed to act politely and nearly 40% believes she isn’t open-minded and isn’t impartial, then she doesn’t deserve to be reelected to another term.

As we speak (ca. December 2018), Denise continues to sit as a First Judicial District Circuit Judge in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
