U.S. Judge Shira Scheindlin of NY City; moron, lifetime porker

The state of New York presented Shira Scheindlin with a law license in 1975 after she graduated from Cornell University Law School.

In 1994 former President Bill Clinton was duped into appointing Scheindlin as a U.S. District Court judge in Manhattan. Shira didn’t receive the appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the greater New York City area. She received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

It should be noted that Judge Scheindlin has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty-eight years (ca. 1977 to 2015). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the New York City area was about to offer her a good paying job.

In one matter, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals spanked Judge Scheindlin by ordered that she be removed from a case involving stop-and-frisk in New York. In its ruling, the appellate panel said:

• Gave the appearance of bias by maneuvering to get the case assigned to her
• Giving news interviews
• Conduct ran afoul of the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges
• The appearance of impartiality surrounding the litigation was compromised
• Invited a plaintiff’s lawyer to bring suit against NYPD and stated she would get the case

The issue of stop-and-frisk has absolutely nothing to do with Judge Scheindlin’s conduct. She knowingly bent the rules so that the case would be assigned to her. This then allowed her to decide the case based solely on her obvious bias against the NYPD.

The cost to the taxpayers regarding Scheindlin’s involvement in this matter cannot be fully determined. One thing we know for sure, had the case proceeded in an orderly and unbiased manner, the costs would be much less.

In August 2011, Scheindlin opted to become a Senior Status judge. This meant that her replacement would be appointed by President Obama. It also meant that she is only required to work 10-hours—a-week while still receiving a full paycheck of $199,100 per year or $388 a day. Is America a wonderful country or what?

As we speak (ca. June 2015), Judge Scheindlin remains sitting as a U.S. District Court judge in New York City.
