Attorney J. Don Overton of Little Rock; ethical dwarf

The state of Arkansas presented J. Don Overton with a law license in 2007 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Overton guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to respond to opposing counsel’s discovery requests
  • Failed to file respond to defense counsel’s motion for summary judgment
  • Negligence led to court granting summary judgment against client
  • Failed to advise client that defense counsel had filed summary judgment motion
  • Failed to advise client that court granted summary judgment and dismissed his case with prejudice
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to comply with client requests for information

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Overton by gifting him with a complimentary caution.

As we speak (May 2015), Overton practices in Little Rock, Arkansas.
