US Judge Jeffrey White of San Francisco; Dumbo  

The state of California presented Jeffrey Steven White with a law license in 1970 after he graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo Law School.

Former President George W. Bush was duped into appointing White as a District Court Judge in 2002 even though he wasn’t the most qualified attorney in the San Francisco area. White received his appointment because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In one matter, Judge White was assigned to hear a case involving a defendant who pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a child and was sentenced by White to 450 months' imprisonment.

The defendant appealed by arguing that his guilty plea and sentence must be set aside because the district court impermissibly and prejudicially participated in his plea negotiations.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed White by ruling in part:

• White participated in the parties' plea discussions by prematurely committing itself to a sentence of a specific severity and the district court's participation prejudiced the defendant.
• Where there was a reasonable probability that the defendant would not have agreed to the terms of the second plea agreement absent White’s remarks.

The Court of Appeals took the unusual step by stating:

• “The panel believes that the appearance of justice will be best served by remanding to a different judge.”

Unfortunately, the taxpayers are forced to pay for this type of gross incompetence. In fact, White can never be sanctioned or disciplined no matter how many times he issues rulings that fly in the face of well-settled law.

As we speak (cs. April 2015), white continues to sit as a US District Court Judge in San Francisco, California.
