Judge Alicia Franklin of Houston; arrogant loser

The state of New Mexico presented Fred Travis Soelen with a law license in 2003 after she graduated from St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio, Texas.

In November 2014, Alicia succeeded in duping the voters in the Houston area into electing her as a Family Court judge in Houston.

It was recently (03/25/15) reported that Judge Franklin and her soon-to-be husband, attorney Doug York posted a lavish honeymoon gift registry that the posted online. (Craig Malisow, Houston Press)

Alicia and Doug plant to stay in Paris and the Maldives during their honeymoon. The online gift registry includes requests for the following:

  • Upgrade for the honeymoon suite
  • A massage for Alicia and Doug
  • Paying for a lobster dinner

It It should be noted that between 2010 and 2014, Alicia collected $806,005 from Harris County for her work as a judge-appointed attorney. According to an ethics complaint filed by attorney Greg Enos, Alicia billed more than 73 hours over four days, which included one when she billed for 23.5 hours.

HarrisCountypaid Alicia an average of about $165,000. This amount doesn’t include any fees she earned in her private practice. One can safely assume her annual income was in excess of $200,000.

Alicia and her husband attorney are likely earning at least $300,000 a year, which should be sufficient to defray the costs of their luxurious honeymoon.

Alicia gives arrogance a bad name by asking that some of her honeymoon expenses be paid for by folks who likely aren’t making $300,000 a year.

Hopefully, in the future when things spiral downward, Alicia won’t post a registry seeking donations to defray the cost of Industrial Strength Viagra.

As we speak (ca. March 2015), Alicia continues to sit as a Harris County Family Court judge in Houston, Texas.
