follows:
COMMENTS BY RECIPIENT'S OF FREE LEGAL ADVICE.
- "Thank you much and god bless you for your goodwill efforts; it is a rare
phenomenon indeed. 7-31-99, Reportel
- "Thank you so much for your quick reply. I do not want to go to a lawyer! I
checked out the rest as far as prognosis is concerned. The chiropractor has already told
me I will suffer the rest of my life, now if he will just put it in writing. I'll be in
tough. Thanks again! 8-1-99, Kimber
- "I really appreciate your help. You really help me understand their
(lawyers') language. I told Mr. Davis's attorney that we are not interested in settling
anymore, we want a jury trial. Thanks Again, you have know idea how much you have helped
us." 7-23-99, Johnny, California
- "Your generous advice is much appreciated. I agree with your thoughts on the
hearing, and I will politely and patiently represent myself. Love to hear your opinion if
you have time." 8-4-99, Paul8-4-99, Paul
- "Thank you so much for you email, it has helped me tremendously, I agree
with you that it should be sorted out amicably if possible. Many thanks to you for your
time." 7-20-99, Nichola
- "I appreciate the referral to your web site. Just at a glance it appears to
be very interesting, to say the least. I posted my question on several sites and frankly I
am not sure to which your were responding (freeadvice.com). Thank you for your time and
interest. 8-6-99, Suzette
- "Thank you for replying. I sent out several emails (freeadvice.com) and the
only valid response I've gotten is yours. Thank you again for responding and hope to hear
from you again." 7-30-99, Cynthia
- "Thank you for responding..for the longest time..I didn't receive anything
(freeadvice.com), so had pretty much given up on getting any sort of help. It is extremely
hard to find someone to go against the state..but I know I have a case." 8-10-99, Joyce
- "Dear David: Thanks for the reply! As far as I know, the discipline would
have been in 1995-1997. Once again the attorney is in Columbus, Ohio. You are doing a
great service to people! Just allowing me to vent my frustration is very therapeutic.
Thanks, David." 8-4-99, Dwight, Ohio
- "Thank you for responding to my call of distress. I did check out your site
and found it very informational. In fact, I may have other issues to strengthen my case,
i.e. breach of contract, (which I hadn't considered). I have researched Wisconsin statutes
regarding wage claims and fee I have taken the appropriate legal steps. Again, thanks for
responding to my sos and allowing me to vent these frustrations. Any encouragement, advice
and positive reinforcement you can provide is GREATLY APPRECIATED." 8-5-99, deahl, Wisconsin8-5-99, deahl, Wisconsin
- "I have just finished reading some of the articles on your web site and it
seems to be the first place to start looking for help. Time is of the essence, and might
even be too late. I want to thank you for your time and any help in this matter. Thank
You! 7-21-99, Colette, Nevada
- "First, Thank you for even trying to help. I followed your advice and bumped
into some info, which I am pursuing for feedback. Please do not think that I am trying to
take advantage of your kindness. I just do not have the resources and/or the knowledge to
conduct these type of researches and unfortunately these types of people (landlords)
thrive on the public's ignorance and financial restrictions. Thank you again for your
efforts and God bless you. 8-6-99, Emilia
LAWYERS COMMENTS RE: LEGAL ADVICE
- Interesting site! There's a lot of good information on your site. We are on a
similar mission, to protect families against legal situations that may threaten them. And
to help them get access to top quality legal advice. 8-11-99,
Dave
- "Have checked out you site. Very interesting. I agree with you about
Freeadvice.com and Findlaw.com. Basically, they exist to make money for lawyers or corps
run by lawyers-although I find Findlaw research resources very helpful. Best of luck with
the site. Hang in there with your suit against the Toledo judiciary." 8-10-99, Cary, Michigan
- "Interesting page. Will you publish listings of those attorneys who have
made amends? Good section on 'free advice'." 8-9-99, Kate
LAWYERS COMMENTS RE: DISHONEST JUDGES/ATTORNEYS AND OPINIONS ON
OFFERING LEGAL ADVICE.
- David, I think the concept of your site is great in that it provides a forum for
people to find out how to expose incompetent or dishonest attorneys. However, those pages
where you offer to give certain advice, including on personal injury matters, are
questionable. In my opinion, you may be crossing the line of providing legal advice
without having the necessary credentials or licenses. 8-12-99,
Mississippi
- "Your approach is certainly original, but I think you are treading
perilously close, or have already stepped over the line, into unauthorized practice of law
and slander." 8-11-99, Reggie
- "I did visit your site and in many areas I do agree with you. Your bio notes
a great deal of experience in the legal field and does make you uniquely qualified to give
legal advice in certain areas--and to comment on the legal profession in general. In your
tenure as a Court Reporter and Legal Clerk you have seen the very best and the very worst
of lawyers. One additional comment! There are many times I wish that I could find a place
that graded judges! Often times I wish I had the guts to do it!" 8-10-99, Mckimmey
- "Certainly paralegals and people with legal training short of a law degree
can and do provide competent advice in some situations. There is the same resistance to
paralegals in our profession as has been experienced by nurse practitioners in the medical
profession even though in the vast majority of cases a nurse practitioner is perfectly
competent to provide appropriate care and treatment. However most doctors and lawyers feel
threatened. With respect to rooting out incompetent, avaricious lawyers, you have my full
support. As in any profession, a few can spoil life for the rest of us." 8-12-99, Aaron, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
LAWYERS COMMENTS RE: DISHONEST JUDGES/ATTORNEYS
- Yes, I will go back and look more, when I have time. Have you found exposing
these unprincipled bastards helps?" 8-11-99, Bob
- "I applaud anyone who exposes unethical and immoral (or amoral) judges and
lawyers. None of us are perfect and we sometimes make mistakes. However, there is no
excuse for dishonest and other immoral conduct." 8-9-99,
Lynne
- I agree that there are many incidents of dishonest or incompetent lawyers. I try
to make sure that I am honest and capable. 8-11-99, Corinne
- Personally, I think your site provides a very valuable service and is rather
interesting. Based on my experience, however, some of the most unethical and harmful
actions by lawyers and judges have been undertaken by lawyers in some of the largest and
'most prestigious' law firms in the country. Such actions often have then been endorsed by
members of the judiciary who find it impossible to believe that 'prestigious' lawyers
could in anyway act in a deceitful way. In particular, there are countless examples of
lawyers drafting tricky and outright deceitful securities offerings, proxy statements,
arbitration clauses, home improvement financing contracts and even marketing materials for
banks and credit card companies. These lawyers are almost never called to task for the
harm they have caused to literally thousands of people. Worse, the 'clients' who use these
lawyers have an easy out because they can always say they 'relied on counsel' to prepare
the documents. The lawyers of course can likewise say they were just 'representing' their
client's interests." 8-6-99, Donovan
- "I like your site and agree that dishonest attorneys and judges must be
exposed to perhaps stop them! This is the reason I became an attorney. One of the problem
areas in Sacramento is the way Probate and Family law courts operate, in such a draconian
and complicated way instead of truly helping people." 8-9-99,
Klink
- "I found your site very interesting in all respects and your page on
instructing attorney's on how to bill very creative and funny and also sadly very
true." 8-10-99, Steve, Massachusetts
- "Do you keep up with South Carolina in your web site? We have some real
winners here too." 8-10-99, leek, South Carolina
- "Why would I find your site interesting? I find it sad. Of course, I am not
aware of a website that lists those of us who are honest, ethical and hardworking. And I'd
be willing to bet you drive a much nicer car than I do. One question-to whom does the
"noethics" in your screen name refer?" 8-5-99,
Jennifer
- "Saw your site. Interesting. The practice of law, like every other
profession, is not devoid of unethical conduct. However, such unethical conduct is
probably the exception, as opposed to the norm." 8-10-99,
Maritime Layer
- "I checked out your site. You've got some good stuff there, but it seems so
angry. Cheer up. There are some good attorneys out there. Maybe we could work together.
The more info to the public the better, right?" 8-10-99,
Christopher
- "I wish you luck, and applaud your obvious effort and dedication in both
righting old wrongs and preventing new wrongs. I would advise you to proceed very
carefully, however, because the tort of defamation is particularly designed to protect
people from false information being given regarding their professions. Although your forum
may qualify for the sort of protection given to newspapers under the 1st
Amendment, that doesn't mean that some disgruntled (and probably incompetent) lawyer won't
sue you and cost you a fortune in defense fees. At any rate, thank you for pointing me to
your web site. May I never make the list!" 8-9-99, Thom
- "I am a paralegal doing business in Ohio. I agree with your mission. I have
worked in the legal field for 10 years and I can tell you that I have seen far, far too
much dishonest lawyering. I get a bad taste in my mouth every time I hear how someone has
been ripped off by lawyers. People like you who are willing to take them on are the real
heroes of the legal profession. Kudos to you, and I wish you success in your mission. 8-10-99, Jacqueline, Ohio
- "It looks like an interesting site. Although I am certainly aware of some
ethics abuses in our judicial system, I was not aware there would be enough for an ongoing
website. As a former public servant, I am very interested in that question, and very
concerned about it.
COMMENTS FROM NON-ATTORNEYS RE: WEBSITE
"Just a note to say that I like your site and your principles! Truly a
defender of the public
" 7-26-99, April
"I just happened to find your site while looking for something else. I had
filed a complaint with the Columbus Bar Asso. (Columbus, Ohio) a few years back about my
attorney. This system is a joke! You are sending your complaint to his friends and
drinking buddy's! I take my hat off to you for attempting to fix the system! What a
battle!" 8-3-99, Dwight, Ohio
"Just found your web site and I applaud the information provided. Recently
one of my employees had to give a deposition in a civil case. Turns out the attorneys just
throw out a net and subpoena everyone just to try and find out information without regard
for the employment and costs of the "witness". I am about to embark on starting
a petition in Missouri forcing attorneys to pay any witness in a civil trial they subpoena
the same hourly rate they charge from the time that witness leaves their home until they
return. They should also be forced to reimburse employers who have to hire temp
replacements. Maybe in this manner the bottom feeders will think twice before chasing an
ambulance. 8-1-99, Mike, Mississippi
"Incredible! My hat is off to you! You have taken on the big boys (who
always change the rules because they own the football), and you STILL maintain faith in
the system. I admire your tenacity and willingness to go the distance. You have my support
(from hundreds of miles away) and I intend to stay updated with your website. 7-27-99, Marquitta, Georgia
"Do I find it interesting (website), And HOW! My name is Brian, I am a bail
bondsman. I also do paralegal and investigative research. I am big on civil and
constitutional rights. 8-6-99, Brian, New Jersey
"Thank you for emailing me the weblink on Dishonest Judges,..I took a quick
peek at it and thought it was great. I will read through it more this weekend. 8-14-99, Thomas
"I'm doing internet research on judicial misconduct and after reading your
experience, I am dumbfounded! I thought I had a prime case, something that was bizarre.
Yours is simply astounding! I was even considering moving from the Good 'Ole Boy system
here in Deep South Georgia to Ohio. Now I'm reconsidering. 7-26-99,
Marquitta, Georgia
WILL BE ADDING MORE TO THIS LIST WHEN TIME PERMITS. PLEASE RETURN FOR
MORE!
