Attorney Evin Dugas of Lakeway, TX; ethical gremlin

The state of Texas presented Evan G. Dugas with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from South Texas College of Law.

The District Grievance Committee found Evin guilty of the following misconduct

• Failed to timely respond to discovery requests
• Sanctioned $600 by court for discovery abuses
• Failed to take further action on client’s case for three years
• Client obtained judgment against Evin
• Client and husband attempted on numerous occasions to contact Evin
• Failed to advise client of status of legal matter

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Evin by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Evin.
