Judge Lance Timbreza of Grand Junction, CO; convicted drunk

The state of Colorado presented Lance Phillip Timbreza with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law.

FYI: Former Gov. John Hickenlooper was duped into appointing Lance as a Mesa County District Court judge in August 2016. Lance didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Grand Junction area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Colorado Disciplinary Commission found Lance guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI)
  • Arresting officer reported that Lance had consumed several glasses of wine at a vineyard and, after leaving the vineyard, drank more wine at a poolside party
  • While driving home from the poolside party, Lance crashed his vehicle into roadside trees and bushes
  • Pled guilty to driving under the influence and sentenced to one-year probation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Lance by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Lance continues to sit as a Mesa County District Court judge (while sober only) in Grand Junction, Colorado.
