Former Judge Robert Rand of Ft. Collins, CO; ethical elf
The state of Colorado presented Robert A. with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from Florida State University Law School.
While serving as a County Court Judge, Bobby engaged in undignified conduct as follows:
-
Joked about physical weight of court collection officer
-
Joked with female juror during course of trial about dancing during a break in the proceedings, which was specific to juror’s profession as a dancer
-
Made inappropriate joke in private to his court clerk about the large breasts of a woman appearing before him in court
-
Commented on physical appearance of attorney appearing regularly in his courtroom
-
Made comments from bench about two attorneys appearing before him wearing pearl necklaces which one attorney felt had a sexual connotation
-
Invited female public defender to share pictures of her vacation with him and his staff
-
During interview with potential clerk, Bobby told female applicant about time when a defendant in the courtroom speculated about the type of panties she was wearing
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Bobby by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
In mid-2014, knowing he could never be re-elected, Bobby resigned.
As we speak (ca. October 2014), Bobby practices law at 425 West Mulberry Street in Fort Collins, Colorado.
