Judge Judy Hartsfield of Detroit; ethical dwarf, lifetime porker

The state of Michigan presented Judy A. Hartsfield with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of South Carolina Law School. 

Judge Hartsfield has spent thirty-two (32) years since receiving her law license in1982 with her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Detroit area was about to offer Judge a good paying job.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm was duped into appointing Hartsfield as Circuit Court judge in 2004. Judy didn’t get the appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the greater Detroit area, she go it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In early 2013, Judge Hartsfield was sued by an Ann Arbor couple  in federal court for singing blank child-removal orders. The couple’s 7-year-old son was taken from them for several days and put in foster care without a judicial determination that he was in danger. The removal came after the boy was mistakenly given hard lemonade at a Detroit Tigers baseball game by his father, a professor at the University of Michigan who didn’t realize it contained alcohol. Subsequently, Judge Cohn ruled that because Judge Judy signed the blank court orders for others to fill out after court hours, she acted in an administrative capacity and was not engaged in a judicial function. Therefore, Hartsfield’s claim of judicial immunity was not a valid defense.

Unwilling to actually perform the judicial duties she is being paid for at a weekly rate of $2,890, Judy had the audacity to order her office staff to perform those tasks.

As we speak (ca. May 2014), the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission hasn’t taken any action against Judge Judy for her unethical misconduct. As apologists for Judicial Misfits, its unlikely that the comedians sitting on the Judicial Tenure Commission will ever pursue ethics charges against Judy,.
