Former Judge Gerard Trudel of Allen Park, MI; liar, repeater, bigot, misogynist

At one time, Gerard Trudel sat as a District Court Judge in Allen Park, which is a suburb of Detroit. During his tenure on the bench, the Judicial Commission charged Gerald with the following misconduct.

Judge Gerald Trudel’s sole purpose for seeking a judgeship was to allow him to act out his fantasy to become a Napoleonic figure who would then ride roughshod in a despotic manner over the troops (court personnel) under his management and control.

Gerry’s Napoleonic/God like comments

On one occasion, he told probation officer Susan Molter “Don’t you know who I am? … This is my court … Is there any question who is in charge? … I am God…”

Damn, I didn’t know God was living in the Motor City, did you?   That’s gotta be bullshit, ya know what I’m saying Delmas? I was told God took up residence in Birmingham at ex-justice Ray Moore’s mobile home.

Gerry told Allen Park City Councilwoman Rossman “Janine, don’t you know I’m a judge? Don’t you know what I can do to you politically? You know, I have a lot of power. Don’t you understand that?” Unreliable sources indicated that Ms. Rossman told Gerry to kiss her ass. Good job Ms. Rossman!

1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree – 2002

The Michigan Supreme Court ordered that Gerry serve a 90-day suspension w/o pay to begin on Jan. 24, 2002 in regards to a prior disciplinary matter.

Gerry was found guilty of (a) sexually offensive conduct, (b) improper (illegal) use of government owned property, and (c) illegal use of court equipment, supplies and county employees for purposes related solely to his 1998 reelection campaign.
Gerry frequently initiated inappropriate sexual discussions, such as his predilection for oral sex, descriptions of his sexual fantasies, often of a graphic nature, and his desire to engage in a threesome with probation officer Staci Sukel.

Gerry made the following racial and sexist comments about Jenita Moore, the court’s only African-American employee:
  • Now I have my token black.”
  • “I’d like some of that sweet chocolate.”
  • “Jenita, didn’t your people fight to keep you from sitting at the back of the bus?”
As a consequence of misconduct, the apologist for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Gerry by gifting him with a 90 days suspension without pay.

2nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree – 2002

Fraudulent Worker’s Comp Claim

On the last day of his first suspension, Gerry applied for mental disability benefits with the Bureau of Workers’ Disability Compensation for the period beginning Jan. 24, 2002 though at least April 23, 2002.

In his application, Gerry said he developed a work-related mental disability in the course of his employment; however, in his application he didn’t disclose he was under suspension without pay. Details, details!

Extended Vacations re: Sham Mental Disability Claim

Gerry claimed he suffered from a mental disability that significantly interfered with his ability to tell the truth, I mean to perform his judicial duties. From July to October 2000 and 2001, Gerry was absent from court and spent most of the time in Newport Beach, California.

Of course during these unjustified absences, Gerry continued to receive wages that he wasn’t entitled too.

Dr. Maureen Sinnott – Gerry’s so-called Psychologist

When Dr. Sinnott testified before the Commission, it was obvious that she was not an objective observer. At the hearing she “cried” and testified that Gerry wasn’t paying her for her services, but she didn’t care and continued to service him.

Of course such conduct makes her assertion suspect, but indicates they are total fabrications. Dr. Sin-nott put forth the following statements regarding Gerry:

Gerry continues to be severely depressed and most serious stressor is continued disciplinary investigation
She had serious doubts Gerry could function as a judge while defending against misconduct allegations
In her “professional opinion” he should not work as a judge due to his inability to concentrate, forgetfulness, and difficulty in making decisions

Sin-nott knew her comments were not and could not have been true. While she’s asserting that Gerry is a “basket-case” who is unable to concentrate, is forgetful and can’t make decisions, he’s driving to and from California.   How did the malingerer get there and back if he couldn’t concentrate and/or make decisions?

If Sin-nott’s findings were true, then she likely would have received a “frantic” call from Gerry after he got confused and mistakenly arrived in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico instead of Newport Beach, California, right?

Gerry’s Feigned Personality Disorder

The Supreme Court employed psychiatrist Dr. Harvey Ager to evaluate Jerry. Ager diagnosed Jerry as having a “paranoid narcissistic personality disorder,” whose perspective of the world is that “he is right and everyone else is wrong.” He’s a judge, what’d ya expect Doc?

Sadly, 6 of the 9 commission members (5 judges, 2 lawyers and 2 non-lawyers) bought Gerry’s bullshit defense that his misconduct was caused by a “personality disorder.” And why do you think there are 7 of them and only 2 non-lawyer/judges?

Dissenters conclude Personality Disorder is Bullshit

The three (3) dissenters deserve credit for showing the courage for calling a spade (crook) a spade (liar).   The dissenters ruled as follows:

Notwithstanding that Gerry was able to convince the disability board that he was entitled to benefits in the aggregate of $335,283.80, the record is replete with evidence to establish his acts of judicial misconduct were by design, not by disease.

The inescapable conclusion is that the “medical adviser” under the judges’ disability retirement statute was not fully aware of the extent of Gerry’s manipulative behavior.
T
he Commission, however, having more information than the medical adviser and being aware of the full range of Gerry’s misconduct cannot allow him to inappropriately benefit himself by this claimed (feigned) “mental illness.”

In layman’s lingo, the dissenters said Gerry was a congenital liar, cheat and perpetrated a fraud by submitting a sham claim for disability payments.

The dissenters asked the Michigan Supreme Court to fine Gerry $90,000 for the money he unjustly received while vacationing in California and while on medical leave on fabricated claims.

Gerry the Nightclub Owner/Operator

While claiming and then collecting disability benefits for his claimed mental illness, Gerry was able to spend valuable time setting up a club named the “Monterey Music Café” in Allen Park.

Gerry is yet another fine example of a total loser being able to wiggle his way into a judgeship.
