Judge William Hughes of Noblesville, IN; convicted drunk

The State of Indiana provided William J. Hughes with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Indiana University Law School.

The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Billy was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) while vacationing in North Carolina.

Billy was able to avoid a criminal misdemeanor for drunk driving when the compliant prosecutor permitted him to plead to a lesser charge of reckless driving. Billy was later given a 30-day suspended jail sentence and placed on unsupervised probation for one year.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2014), Bill remains sitting as a Hamilton County Superior Court Judge in Noblesville, Indiana.
