Judge Clifford Barnes of Ft. Pierce; FL; ethical gnome

The state of Florida presented Clifford H. Barnes with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Stetson University Law School.

The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission found Cliff guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Filed improper writ against another judge with Supreme Court
  • Improperly mounted public attacks against fellow judges
  • Acted outside his proper judicial function when criticizing other judges
  • Engaged in the illegal practice of law which is prohibited for sitting judges
  • Failed to act in an impartial manner
  • Failed to respect and comply with the law
  • Failed to be faithful to the law and maintain professional competence in it

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Cliff by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2018), Cliff continues to sit as a St. Lucie County District Court judge in Fort Pierce, Florida.
