Appellate Judge Gary Tyack of Columbus, Ohio; one of the good guys

Judge Gary Tyack has been sitting on the 10th District Court of Appeals in Columbus, Ohio since 1986.

In 1998, Judge Gary Tyack was a candidate for Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. His opponent was Chief Justice Thomas Moyer.

During this campaign, I personally submitted a questionnaire to both Judge Gary Tyack and Chief Justice Thomas Moyer.

One question asked both candidates what if anything they would do if provided with evidence that a visiting retired judge was billing the state for hours never worked and/or travel expenses never incurred.

Unbelievably, Chief Justice Thomas Moyer responded by saying he would merely ask the miscreant to reimburse the state.

In stark contrast, Judge Gary Tyack responded that he would treat fraud severely and would go one step further in personally reviewing compensation reports submitted by visiting retired judges.

Subsequent to the November 1998 election, which Chief Justice Thomas Moyer won, visiting retired judges continued (ca. 1999-2009) to bilk the public by billing for hours never worked and/or for travel expenses never incurred.

Had Judge Gary Tyack been elected as Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court in November 1998, I’m confident that the wholesale rape of the taxpayers by dishonest retired visiting judges such as Judge Stephen Yarbrough would have come to an abrupt end.

Moreover, Judge Tyack’s election would likely have resulted in the immediate removal of numerous retired judges who had dedicated their careers to bilking the public.
