U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga of Miami; lifetime porker, ethical gimp

The Florida Supreme Court presented Cecilia Altonaga with a law license in 1986 after she graduated from Yale Law School.

After graduating from Yale, Cecilia has dedicated her career to piggin out on public pork. From 1986 through 1996 she was employed as an assistant (aka, gopher, flunky) with the Miami Dade County Attorney’s office. From 1997 through 2002, Cecilia was a judge on the 11th Judicial Circuit Court. Put simply, she’s had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for 25 years with no end in sight.

In 2003, President George W. Bush was duped into nominating Cecilia as a Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Cecilia received her nomination as a result of being a compliant lackey for political hacks running amuck in Florida. She certainly wasn’t the most qualified person in Florida for the job.

Many litigants who have appeared before Judge Altonaga pro se (not represented by counsel) have bitterly complained that she treats them with total disdain.

Others have complaint that she consistently renders decisions that are contrary to well-settled U.S. law to benefit big business and/or her family’s bank account.

Unfortunately, the U.S. Courts are full of unethical ignoramuses who obtained their judgeships because they had proven to be worthy bootlickers for the political hacks in power at the time, whether they are Democrats or Republicans.

Something to remember is that according to the U.S. Constitution, there are no stated requirements for anyone to become a federal judge. The number of morons running amuck throughout the Federal Judiciary is a testament to this fact.

Sadly since Cecilia was born in 1962, and because federal judges are appointed for life, the good folks in the Miami area will likely be faced with this buffoon sitting on the bench for another 40 or more years if she lives to be 90.
