Solicitor Arun Nigam of Hong Kong; ethical troll

The Law Society of Hong Kong presented Arun Kumar Nigam with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Hong Kong School of Law. Arun also received a law license to practice in England and Wales in 1971, Australia in 1983, India in 1984, Brunei in 1986, New South Wales in 1990 and Singapore in 1992.

The Law Society Disciplinary Counsel found Arun guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Improperly shared HK$28,902.70 ($35,142.79 US) in legal fees with legal assistant who was not a practicing solicitor
• Improperly shared HK$11,456.49 ($13,929.95 US) in legal fees with legal assistant who was not a practicing solicitor
• Improperly shared HK$22,344.20 ($27,168.20 US) in legal fees with legal assistant who was not a practicing solicitor
• Improperly shared HK$34,265.60 ($41,662.80 US) in legal fees with legal assistant who was not a practicing solicitor
• Improperly shared HK$9,616.25 ($12,057.17 US) in legal fees with legal assistant who was not a practicing solicitor
• Improperly shared HK$17,620.00 ($21,424.16US) in legal fees with legal assistant who was not a practicing solicitor

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Arun by gifting him with a complimentary fine of HK$12,000.00 ($14,590.80 US). 

As we speak (ca. October 2019), Arun practices with Nigam Arun Associates at 1801 Chinachem Hollywood Centre, 1 Hollywood, Central in Hong, Kong.
