Judge Vicente Hidalgo of the Philippines; slacker, loser

The Philippine Supreme Court provided Vicente A. Hidalgo with a law license in 1963 after he graduated from the University of the Philippines School of Law.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines found Vicente guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to resolve motions and other pending incidents within the prescribed period constitutes gross inefficiency
  • Misconduct tended to tarnish the people’s faith in the judiciary
  • Failed to act with dispatch constitutes undue delay punishable under the Rules of Court

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Republic of the Philippines Supreme Court punished Vicente by gifting him with a complimentary Eleven Thousand Pesos (P11,000) fine and a warning that similar conduct in the future would be dealt with more severely.

It should be noted that had Judge Hidalgo acted in the same negligent manner as a Common Pleas Judge in Ohio or a Superior Court judge in California disciplinary charges would never have been filed against him.

As we speak (ca. April 2020), Vicente continues to sit as a Regional Trial Court Judge in Cebu, Philippines.
