Solicitor John Kilraine of Galway, Ireland; ethical ogre

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Was in serious delay in progressing an action on behalf of his client
  • Failed to take steps to enter into settlement negotiations when invited to do so by letter a solicitor for one of the defendants
  • Failed to engage in settlement negotiations despite repeated assurances given to the Society that he would do so
  • Failed to answer correspondence from the complainant
  • Failed to inform the solicitors for the defendants that an offer made was not acceptable until three years after the fact
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Johnny!)
Failed to provide monthly progress reports on his client’s case, as directed by the Complaints and Client Relations Committee
  • Obstructed the Law Society by his conduct in carrying out its statutory obligation of investigating complaints (Up yours, said Johnny!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure and fined in the amount of €6,000.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Johnny practices with Kilraine & Company, Nile Lodge Corner in Galway, Ireland.
