Solicitor Seamus Mallon of Louth, Ireland; ethical goblin

 

The Law Society of Ireland presented Liam T. Cosgrove with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from Queen’s University School of Law.

 

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Seamus guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Allowed a deficit to arise in respect of client funds in the sum of €126,167
  • Allowed €126,167 to arise in practice of withdrawing costs from client account in round sums and failing to record said withdrawls in client ledger accounts
  • Failed to keep proper books of accounts in breach of Solicitors’ Accounts Regulations
  • Allowed client bank account to be overdrawn on a number of occasions
  • Allowed debit balances on the client ledger to occur on the client ledger account
  • Existence of debit balances on the client ledger is in breach of rules

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Seamus by gifting him with a complimentary censure and imposed a fine of €15,000.

 

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Seamus  practices withTraynor Mallon Solicitors at 86 Clanbrasil Street in Dundalk, Louth, Ireland.
