Richard Land: Today’s “Homophobe” Award Winner

Richard Land is a former official with the Southern Baptist Convention. During a recent (07/23/14) rant while hosting the Washington Watch comedy show, Dick claimed a connection between the rise of gay rights and Nazi Germany.

During the comedy show, Dick spoke with Fox News comedian Todd Starnes about Obama’s executive order to protect employees of federal government contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Dick then told comedian Starnes that conservatives need to stand up to “the gay thought police” or face Nazi-style persecution, mentioning Martin Niemöller’s anti-Nazi poem “First they came…”

Dick went on to warn of “liberal McCarthyism” since now “the questions is, “Are you now, or have you even been opposed to homosexual and lesbian or gay, bisexual, transgender behavior?”

Subsequently, Dick published his own rendition of Martin Niemöller’s anti-Nazi poem, which goes something like this:

In America they came first for the Morons, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Moron

Then they came for the Lunatics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Lunatic

Then they came for the Homophobes, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Homophobe

Then they came for the Racists, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Racist

Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up for me except fellow loons Louie Gohmert, Michele Bachman and Steve Stockman

Congrats Dick; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Accomplished “Homophobes”; you are far too humble.
