Barrister Naveed Akbar of England; ethical troll

The Law Society presented Naveed Mudasser Akbar with a Barristers license in 2003 after he graduated from the University of Bristol School of Law.

The Bar Standards Board found Naveed guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Behaved in a way which was likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in him or in the profession
  • Failed to allocate receipts into the client account to a total value of £4,755.12 ($6,152.00) and withdrawals from the client account to a total value of £108,778 ($141,212.00) in a client ledger account
  • Failed to obtain, or alternatively, preserve bank statements relating to six client accounts operated in the name of Birleys Solicitors Limited
  • Permitted a shortage to exist on the client accounts of Birleys Solicitors Limited was not shown within the reconciliation statements produced on that date
  • Failed to participate in the management of the practice of Birleys Solicitors Limited and discharge his duties as a Director, either adequately or at all
  • Allowed the practice of Birleys Solicitors Limited to be carried out on or subject to the direction, management, and control of persons unadmitted to the roll of Solicitors
  • Engaged in illegal practice of law when not licensed to so act

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Barrister Misfits sitting on the Bar Standards Board punished Naveed by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and a fine of £500 ($641.00).

As we speak (ca. July 2021), Naveed practices with Copart UK Limited at Acrey Fields, Woburn Road, Bedford, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom.
