Attorney Michel Riou of Saskatchewan, CAN; ethical gnome

The Law Society of Saskatchewan presented Michel Lucien Joseph Riou with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan School of Law.

The Law Society of Saskatchewan found Michel guilty of the following misconduct.

• Did personally, or on behalf of his firm, entered into or continued a debtor-creditor relationship with his client
• Did enter into a business transaction with his client wherein he acquired a security interest in all present and after-acquired property of the client, without first ensuring the client obtained independent legal advice regarding the transaction
• Ordered Michel to pay $1,113.66 in restitution

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society of Saskatchewan disciplinary panel punished Michel by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Michel practices with the Riou Law Office at 210 Main Street in Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada.
