Sen. Royce West of Dallas a scofflaw; ethical dwarf, arrogant

Sen. Royce West was elected to the 23rd State Senate District from Dallas in 1993.

Sen. Royce West is yet another so-called lawyer who succeeded in fooling the voters to elected him to the State Senate.

Section 253.035 of the Texas Election Code prohibits a candidate or officeholder from converting campaign contributions to his/her personal use.

Seemingly, Sen. Royce West believes that he contributors are under a duty to pay for his dues to belong to one or more fraternities and/or alumni associations.

From 2000 through 2007, Sen. Royce West spent $8,200 for fraternity dues and another $1,300 for alumni association dues as set forth below.

It is patently clear that paying dues to a fraternity is purely voluntary act. In fact, it is a personal choice. Therefore, it is obvious that said expenses had absolutely nothing to do with any official officeholder duty. Moreover, it would laughable for Sen. Royce West to suggest that these payments were specifically related to legitimate campaign activities.

It seems fairly clear that prior to duping the voters in 1993 that if Sen. Royce West belonged to the above named fraternities that, he would of course have had to pay these dues personally. However, given his lack of ethics and more importantly his arrogant attitude, Sen. Royce West decided he was entitled to have his contributors pay his dues.
