Texas Sen. Mike Jackson a scofflaw; certified moron, ethically moribund

Unfortunately Sen. Mike Jackson was elected to the 11th District Senate seat in 1998, which is in the Harris, Brazoria and Galveston County areas.

Section 253.035 of the Texas Election Code prohibits a candidate or officeholder from converting campaign contributions to his/her personal use.

Furthermore, Ethics Advisory Opinion No. 104 issued on Dec 10, 1992 states: “Legislators may not use political contributions to pay laundry and dry cleaning expenses incurred in Austin.”

Despite these prohibitions, Sen. Mike Jackson illegally used campaign funds to pay to have his suits cleaned in early 2007 as set forth below.
  • American Cleaners 8, 20070327, 62.26, Dry Cleaning Expense
  • Capitol Cleaners, 20060513, 45.95, Dry Cleaning Expense
  • Capitol Cleaners, 20060627, 11.31, Dry Cleaning Expense
  • Capitol Cleaners, 20050728, 5.15, Dry Cleaning Expense
  • Jack Brown Cleaners #6, 20050716, 52.55, Dry Cleaning
  • Jack Brown Cleaners #6, 20050716, 13.64, Dry Cleaning Expense
  • Capitol Cleaners, 20050721, 28.44, Dry Cleaning Expense
  • Capitol Cleaners, 20050707, 17.21, Dry Cleaning Expense
Clearly Sen. Mike Jackson lacks the intellectual acumen to comprehend simple terms like “may not use,” therefore it is apparent that his I.Q. is equal to or less than the legal speed limit in a school zone.

On June 10, 2008, the Texas Ethics Commission met to consider the complaint I filed against Sen. Mike Jackson in February 2008. “The Texas Ethics Commission determined that there is credible evidence of violations of section 253.035(a) of the Election Code [converting political contributions to personal use”.]

Personal Exercise Equipment

Due to the three-year statute of limitations for illegally using campaign funds for personal use, the Commission took no action against Sen. Mike Jackson for illegally using campaign funds  $900 for “exercise equipment” on January 20, 2004 as set forth below.
  • Total Fitness, 20040120, 900.00, Exercise Equipment Expense
In other words, Mikey is allowed to retain this equipment even though its purchase was illegal and he committed a criminal misdemeanor in so acting. What this means is that in Texas all a corrupt legislator has to do is make sure his criminal conduct is not uncovered for three years. After three years have passed, the corrupt politician such as Sen. Mike Jackson is allowed to retain the $900 piece of exercise equipment. Isn’t Texas a great country? And who was the fool that said "crime doesn't pay?"

It is painfully  fairly clear that Sen. Mike Jackson lacks the intellectual acumen to understand and appreciate the prohibitions against using campaign funds for personal purposes. Therefore, it would be safe to conclude that Sen. Mike Jackson is a certified moron. However, to be excruciatingly fair to Sen. Mike Jackson, he’s not the only certified and/or celebrated moron sitting in the Texas legislature. Put simply, Sen. Mike Jackson is not the only tree in the forest.

In 2005, Sen. Mike Jackson was named a 2005 “Fighter for Free Enterprise” by the Texas Association of Business. Since Sen. Mike Jackson is of the opinion that it is acceptable to fleece his contributors (aka, taking them to the cleaners) in obtaining free dry cleaning services, this awards seems appropriate if ya know what I mean.
