Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-MN): Today’s “Public Official Misfit” Award Winner

The House Ethics Committee is investigating Jimmy for engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Directed at least $100,000 of taxpayer money to a Texas-based printing company owned by John Sample, a member of Jimmy’s staff member
  • Jimmy also paid $340,000 for printing services to Abernathy West, a company which was formed one year ago and whose origins and ownership have been difficult to ascertain
  • Jimmy is still (August 2020) employing Sample, whose company was paid the $100,000
  • Questions arose regarding the large amount of money Jimmy's office has spent relative to other congressional offices
  • Jimmy allegedly spent $500,000 in the first three months of 2020, accounting for nearly 40% of his taxpayer-funded office budget
  • Jimmy spent $280,000 in taxpayer money for printing and sending mail to constituents
  • Mismanaged taxpayer money

All that remains now is to see (1) if the voters in the greater Rochester, Austin and Mankato areas vote to reelect Jimmy and (2) how low before he admits to the wrongdoing set forth above.

As we speak (ca. August 2020), Jimmy continues to sit as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
