Assistant DA Bruce Mohon of Donaldsonville, LA; deceitful loser

The State of Louisiana presented Bruce Gerard Mohon with a law license in 1992 after he graduated the University of Tulsa Law School.

It should be noted that in addition to being employed as an Assistant St. James Parish District Attorney, Bruce also operates a private law business.

In one matter, Bruce prosecuted a case against St. James Parish director of operations who had been accused last fall along with the parish president of illegally directing public resources for work on private property.  (Dave Hammer, WWL)

Subsequently, State District Court Judge Jessie LeBlanc of the 23^rd Judicial District tossed out all five malfeasance in office counts being prosecuted by Mohon against Blaise Gravois. In displaying her anger at Mohon’s conduct, Judge LeBlanc accepted defense counsel’s arguments that Mohon had engaged in prosecutorial misconduct.

Judge LeBlanc faulted the parish attorney's advice to the St. James Parish Council chairman around the time of the Sept. 28 indictment that he should not accept payment for the new gas line that was the subject of the one of Gravois' criminal counts.

The judge ruled that said advice amounted to withholding exculpatory evidence that could have been favorable to Gravois at trial. She went on to say there never would have been a criminal count charged against Mr. Gravois because the work would have been paid for.

Judge LeBlanc said the misconduct of DA Mohon was so egregious it required all five counts to be thrown out, not just the single count involving the stalled payment for the new gas line to the Millennium Galvanizing plant north of Convent. She went on to say that the District Attorney’s Office, through Mr. Mohon, breached its duty to act as a representative of the people and to uphold the integrity of the criminal justice system.

In her 12-page order, Judge LeBlanc said:

• "This court can see no basis for refusing to accept payment other than to influence the Grand Jury proceedings and violate the fundamental principles of due process and fairness"
• "As an agent of the state, Mr. Mohon's actions thwarted fairness in the search for truth in the entire proceeding."

Of course, Mohon absolutely knows that he’ll not be punished in any significant way for violating Mr. Gravois’ due process rights in his obscene zeal to place a notch on his “prosecutorial conviction belt.”

As we speak (ca. May 2017), Bruce continues to be employed as an Assistant District Attorney and in addition practices with The Law Offices of Bruce G Mohon, LLC at 1959 Highway 3125 in Lutcher, Louisiana.
