Today’s Public Official Misfit is Adams County, CO Assessor Gil Reyes

The seat of Adams County is Brighton, which is about 23 miles north of Denver.

On May 11, 2012, Gil Reyes was charged with nine criminal charges of official misconduct. The official misconduct related to the manner in which Reyes repaid a campaign contributor for its investment in him.

The investor in Reye’s campaign as Adams County Assessor was California-based Majestic Realty Co. which owned a number of warehouses in Adams County.

The Feds charged that Reyes had personally slashed the taxable value of warehouses owned by Majestic to the tune of $23 million, thereby saving the purchasers of his services more than $800,000 a year in property taxes.

The amount paid by various pimps employed by Majestic to procure the services of Reyes was only $14,000. For a measly $14,000 bribe, Majestic received a return of $57 for every $1 it invested to purchase Reyes’ services. In truth, Gil is nothing more than a cheap whore!

The price of the bribe that Reyes accepted clearly lowers the price that future bribers will have to pay crooked public employees for their services.

After Gil is convicted, the sentencing judge should order that he be assigned to cell No. 295 at the Colorado State Penitentiary so that he’ll be roomed up with Clarice (real name is Clarence).

Since bribing public officials is rampant and causes financial damage to the taxpayers, it would be much less costly if future elections in Colorado and elsewhere were conducted as “online auctions.” For an idea of how an “online auction” for public elections would work, visit the URL listed below.
