Today’s Public Official Misfit is LA Coliseum Finance Director Ronald Lederkramer

Ronald Lederkramer is the Finance Director for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

In an effort to unjustly enrich himself at public expense, Ronnie used his personal Chase Visa card to purchase $270,000 for a sound system upgrade for the Coliseum’s new video board. (LA Times, 12/10/11)

Ronnie’s unethical conduct allowed him to receive enough redeemable award points worth about $24,000 for the following:
  • One week at the downtown Ritz-Carlton
  • Two Bulova watches
  • Pair of first-class round-trip airline tickets to London or Tokyo
In a lame effort at levity in defending his unethical conduct, Don had the chutzpah to say the Coliseum benefited because his credit card granted an extra year’s warrant for products bought with it. “How does the agency get hurt?” Donnie said. (LA Times)

Clearly, Ronnie missed his calling as a standup comedian!

Ronnie’s claim that the Coliseum was rewarded with one extra year’s warranty for the $270,000 sound system is false since Visa’s extended warranty isn’t valid for products purchased for commercial use.

Ronnie’s undeserved annual compensation is more than $190,000 ($3,700 a week). Ronnie has been on a paid medical leave since September. His sick leave conveniently began shortly after City Councilman Parks demanded he be fired for spending abuses and for billing the stadium for his own luxury car expenses and other unwarranted perks.

Who said crime doesn’t pay? It damn sure wasn’t Ronnie!
