Today’s “Certified Nutcase” is Arizona Rep. Debbie Lesko

Congratulations to….

Rep. Debbie Lesko of Arizona
Today’s “Certified Nutcase” Award Winner

Rep. Lesko takes being a nutcase to new levels. Recently Debbie introduced legislation in the Arizona legislature that would permit employers to ask their employees for proof of medical prescriptions if they seek contraceptives for non-reproductive purposes such as hormone control or acne treatment.

“I believe we live in America. We don’t live in the Soviet Union,” Debbie said. “So, government should not be telling organizations or mom and pop employers to do something against their moral beliefs.”

In essence, Debbie’s screwball legislation would allow employers in Arizona to fire employees that used any contraceptives. I don’t know about you, but I believe that just might be unconstitutional in addition to being screwy.

There was no indication in Debbie’s proposed legislation that would allow employers to deny coverage for the “morning after” pill for male employees.

To assure that she would forever cement her status as a “certified nutcase,” Debbie also supported House Bill 2281 to prohibit the teaching of courses that promote the overthrow of the U.S. Government as was happening in some Tucson schools. I betcha that’s a really, really big problem in Arizona, right?

I’m wondering if Debbie has ever claimed that she can see Alaska while perched on top of Humphrey’s Peak which is about 17 miles north of Flagstaff.

Congrats Debbie; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as a Certified Nutcase; you are far too humble.
