Attorney Eugenio Mathis of Las Vegas, NM; pervert

The state of New Mexico presented Eugenio S. Mathis with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from the University of New Mexico Law School.

Eugenio’s misconduct came about while he was sitting as a 4th District Court Judge in San Miguel County located in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

The New Mexico Judicial Standards Commission charged Eugenio with the following misconduct.

Eugenio admitted that he violated the court computer and Internet use policy by making disparaging comments about other judges. He also referred to parties in a domestic violence case “chigando,” or acting crazy, and that he repeatedly made “judicial statements” about pending cases via his illegal use of the court’s Internet.

Eugenio also admitted that he had engaged in “excessive and improper” instant messaging with his wife. The Judicial Commission claimed that Eugenio engaged in “communications of a sexual nature” with his wife during working hours, “including intimations that he had or would be having sexual relations with her during the workday and/or on court premises.”

In one text message to his wife, Eugenio said, “Don’t come knocking if the jury room is rockin.”

Rather than wait for a ruling from the Judicial Commission regarding his misconduct, Eugenio did what most cowards do, he resigned.

Because Judicial Misfits in New Mexico are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Eugenio was never criminally charged for his illegal use of government property. In addition, the State Bar of New Mexico hasn’t taken any action against Eugenio’s law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2013), Eugenio practices with the Mathis Law Office LLC at 498 Sun Drive in Las Vegas, New Mexico, which is about 120 miles northeast of Albuquerque.
