Judge Shelley Cundiff of Sheridan, WY; ethical goblin

The State of Wyoming presented Shelley A. Cundiff with a law license in 2003 after she graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law.

It should be noted that Gov. Matt Mead was duped into appointing Shelley as a Third Judicial District Circuit Judge in 2012. Craig didn’t get the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Rock Springs area. She got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In an October 2018 rating by the Wyoming Bar Association for Shelley’s retention by the voters in the January 2019 election, the State Bar vote established that 38.5% of the respondents opposed Shelley’s retention by the voters. In specific areas, the Bar members voted as follows.

  • Knowledge of the law: 44% strongly/somewhat  disapprove
  • Decisions are well reasoned: 42% strongly/somewhat  disapprove
  • Application of rules/evidence: 38.5% strongly/somewhat  disapprove

Hopefully the voters in the Sheridan area are astute enough to not vote to retain someone that almost 40% of attorneys have determined is not qualified to be retained. Moreover, when over 40% of the lawyers that appear in Shelley’s court believe she lacks knowledge of the law and fails to produce well-reasoned decisions, then she doesn’t deserve to be reelected to another term.

As we speak (ca. December 2018), Shelly continues to sit as a Third Judicial District Circuit Judge in Sheridan, Wyoming.
