The state of Illinois presented Joseph Anthony Leonardi with a law license in 1985.

The Illinois Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

After representing a client at the closing of a home, Joey  took possession of the seller’s proceeds check from the title company, but never deposited or negotiated that check, or a replacement check that later issued to him. The title company subsequently ceased operations and its parent company has denied the client’s claim for payment of the proceeds.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 90-day suspension of his law license.
