Attorney Thorn Thorn of Morgantown, WV; thieving slacker

The state of West Virginia presented Thorn H. Thorn with a law license in 1997 after he graduated from the University of West Virginia Law School.

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Thorn guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide itemized statements of funds to clients
  • Deposited client funds in operating account rather than trust account
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed of status of matter
  • Knowingly violated duties owed to clients
  • Failed to make refunds as to unearned fees to several clients (thief)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with clients
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Thorn!)
  • Client suffered significant harm
  • Allowing statute of limitations to toll on client’s claims was an intentional and knowing act of gross negligence
  • Failed to comply with client information requests

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Thorn by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2017), Thorn practices at 1403 Saratoga Avenue in Morgantown, West Virginia.
