Attorney John Scott of Clarksburg, WV; lying slacker

The state of West Virginia presented John Alexander Scott with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from West Virginia University Law School.

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Lied to Harrison County Sheriff that special grand jury had been scheduled
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Wrongfully obtained indictment against defendant whose case had already been resolved in the Magistrate’s Court
  • Engaged in a clear pattern of a willingness to lie
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in the illegal practice of law
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Knowingly made a false statement of fact to a tribunal
  • Offered evidence he knew to be false
  • Failed to abide by client’s decisions
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2016), Johnny practices with Scott Law PLLC at 215 West Main Street in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
