The state of Washington presented Marvin Benson with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from Lewis & Clark University Law School.

The Washington State Bar found Marv guilty of the following misconduct.

Marv’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to advise clients he had a conflict of interest
• Failed to review personal or financial information re: client purchase of estate-planning package
• Estate package not necessary or appropriate for client
• Estate document contained community property provisions even though the couple had never lived in a community property state during their marriage
• Estate documents never properly executed
• Aid non-lawyers in the illegal practice of law
• Failed to provide competent representation (idiot)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Marv by gifting him with a complimentary 1-month suspension of his law license.

• Failed to ascertain a client’s competence
• Willfully purported to act as lawyer for someone w/o authority to so act
• Failed to informed client about status of legal matter
• Failed to comply with client information requests
• Failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Marv by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
