The State of Vermont presented James M. LaMonda with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of the Vermont School of Law.

 

The State Bar Court found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

 

Jimmy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of matter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

 

Jimmy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to appreciate conflict of interest between two criminal defense clients
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

 

Jimmy’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to notify former firm he had collected fees firm had a legal interest in
  • Failed to segregate and hold disputed fees in separate account
  • Failed to safekeep funds
  • Failed to promptly notify former firm of receipt of fees the firm was entitled to receive
  • Engaged in negligent conduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
