Attorney Matthew Johnson of Ogden, UT; deceitful loser

The state of Utah presented Matthew T. Johnson with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from Creighton University School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court found Matty guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as a deputy county attorney during the prosecution of a defendant for aggravated assault.

  • Failed to act fairly to opposing party and counsel
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • During the trial, Matty made a statement mischaracterizing the witness’ written statement
  • The trial court determined that a curative instruction to the jury could not adequately remedy the inflammatory nature of the Matty’s statement and declared a mistrial
  • Matty also failed to turnover evidence to defense counsel that had potential evidentiary value

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2019), Matty practices with the Office of Guardian Ad Litem at 444 26th Street in Ogden, Utah.
