Attorney James Stith of Salt Lake City; ethical goblin

The state of Utah presented James L. Stith with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Brigham Young University Law School.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Violated or attempted to violate rules of conduct, knowingly assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Submitted affidavit that wasn’t signed or approved by client
  • Committed a criminal act that reflects adversely on lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness or fitness to practice law
  • Failed to advise client that fees award to opposing party
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Jimmy!)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 21-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2016), Jimmy practices at 5806 South 900 East in Salt Lake City, Utah.
