Attorney Eureka Cornelius of Dallas; ethical ogre

The state of Texas presented Eureka M. Cornelius with a law license in 2006 after he graduated from Texas Southern University School of Law.

FYI: Texas Southern is ranked as the 181^st best law school in the country out of 200 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools.

The District 6 Grievance Committee found Eureka guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to reduce to writing contingent fee agreement entered into with his client
• Failed to state the method by which his fee was to be determined
• Failed to keep client funds in a separate trust or escrow account
• Failed to promptly deliver to complainant and an insurance provider funds they were entitled to receive
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, dishonesty, deceit, or misrepresentation
• Failed to surrender papers and property to which client was entitled

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Eurekaby gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.
