In one matter, Dave was convicted of five (5) counts of failing to file and pay his South Carolina state income tax. He was subsequently sentenced to concurrent sentences of one year on each of the five counts, which was suspended when he paid a court ordered fine.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the South Carolina Supreme punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.
