Attorney Charles Isaak of Beaverton, OR; greedy loser

The state of Oregon provided Charles N. Isaak with a law license in 1957.

The Oregon State Bar found Daniel guilty of the following misconduct:
  1. Multiple offenses of misconduct
  2. Engaged in bad faith obstruction of ethics investigation (Up Yours, said Charles!)
  3. Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of his conduct
  4. Charged a clearly excessive fee (crook)
  5. Knowingly took advantage of a vulnerable client
Charles was hired to represent Mollie Brooks as a potential heir in a probate matter pending in Florida. Shortly thereafter, Charles learned that the estate was worth about $100,000 and it would be split with other heirs. After a couple of years, Charles claimed he spent 213 hours on the probate matter and then billed Mollie $31,736.25 for his work.
At about the same time, Charles represented Mollie regarding a recent hospitalization and other related matters. Charles had Mollie sign a trust deed to her home to secure his past and future legal fees and expenses.

In July 2005, the Dept of Human Services (DHS) initiated a legal action to have a conservator appointed for Mollie on the basis that she may be a victim of financial abuse by Charles. Charles then had the chutzpah to act as Mollie’s lawyer in this matter; however, a conservator was appointed for Mollie.

In November 2005, Mollie died. Charles made a claim against her estate for $31,736.25 in the Florida probate matter, and $91,435.99 for representing her on other matters relating to Medicaid, sale of her house, contesting the conservatorship, and personal care, with a total claim of $122,172.20.

After a hearing was held by the probate court, the Judge awarded Greedy Charles $2,000 for his legal services and $7,000 for non-legal services.

Here we have a totally dishonest attorney having the chutzpah to bill Mollie for hours he spent defending the appointment of a conservator for her because he was victimizing her financially. This would be akin to Sammy “The Bull” Gravano billing the wife of a made man he ordered murder for the costs of hiring a hit man, the bullets and the funeral.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court punished Charles by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Isaak practices at 14325 SW Lisa Lane in Beaverton, Oregon.
