Attorney James Exum of Charlotte, NC; repeat offender

 

The state of North Carolina presented James J. Exum with a law license in 1990 when he graduated from the University of North Carolina Law School.

 

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Jimmy’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to advise clients he failed lawsuit after statute of limitations tolled
  • Failed to convey offer of settlement to clients
  • Dismissed client claims w/o the clients’ knowledge or consent
  • Intentionally prejudiced client
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Had a selfish or dishonest motive in concealing facts from clients
  • Made several false statements to ethics investigators (Up yours, said Jimmy!)
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

Jimmy’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to disburse settlement funds to client’s medical providers
  • Failed to adequately supervise quarterly reconciliations of trust account
  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failure to pay medical providers negatively impacted on client credit
  • Delayed for almost two years in paying client’s medical bills

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

As we speak (ca. July 2015) Jimmy practices at 301 South McDowell Street in Charlotte, North Carolina.
