Attorney John DeMaio of New York City; potty mouth slacker

The state of New York presented John Peter DeMaio with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the Western New England University School of Law.

The Appellate Division Disciplinary Panel found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Neglected a client’s breach of contract case by waiting almost six years after retention to file a summons
• Due to gross negligence in waiting almost six years, the statute of limitations had nearly elapsed
• Advanced an unwarranted claim with intent to delay a foreclosure matter
• Used expletive language toward opposing counsel in a voice message
• Engaged in conduct adversely reflected upon his fitness as a lawyer

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Appellate Division Disciplinary Panel punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. December 2022), Johnny practices his so-called brand of law at 75 Maiden Lane in New York, New York.
