Attorney Craig Fine of Staten Island, NY; ethical gnome

 

The state of New York provided Craig Albert Fine with a law license in 2006 after he graduated from the New York School of Law. Craig also received a license to practice in Florida in 2012.

 

The Supreme Court of New York, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department found Craig guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Fine failed to maintain minimum trust account records, which led to a $17,965.97 shortfall in his trust account
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Issued earned fees to himself that cleared though another client’s funds held in trust
  • Failed to maintain separate accounts for client/third-party funds and his personal/business funds
  • Failed to abide by the rules governing the maintenance of an attorney's escrow account by misappropriating fiduciary funds

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Supreme Court of New York, Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department punished Craig by gifting him with a complimentary 90-days suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. April 2021), Craig practices his brand of law at 159 New Dorp Plaza in Staten Island, New York.
