Attorney Robert H. Walters of New York City; repeat offender, crook

The state of New York presented Robert Anthony Walters with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Howard University Law School.

In early 2008 the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the 1st Judicial Department filed the following misconduct charges against Robert.
  1. Conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  2. Failure to return unearned fees to client (cheater)
  3. Made a false statement to a Supreme Court Justice
  4. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit and dishonesty
  5. Induced client to execute a false affidavit (subornation of perjury)
  6. Failed to communicate with a client
Bob’s misconduct involved his attempt to scam a criminal client out of unearned fees. Bob refused to refund an unearned $13,500 retainer he received in 2004 from a client even though she had fired him. Bob told the disciplinary referee that he had earned $5,000 of the retainer, but the referee found his claim to be untrue.

The referee also found that Bob had lied to a judge by telling he had only received $5,500 as his legal fee when in fact he had been paid a total of $21,500. He also lied to the judge that his client was indigent, thereby submitting a perjured affidavit he prepared for the client to the judge.

This wasn’t Bob’s first bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously admonished twice for engaging in misconduct. Put simply, this was Bobby’s 3rd bite at the Misfit Tree.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the sympathizers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee for the 1st Judicial Department punished Bobby by gifting him with a six month suspension of his law license.

Apparently, three strikes and you’re out (disbarred) doesn’t count in regards to Attorney Misfits in New York. And lastly, because Attorney Misfits are held to a lower standard of conduct then everyone else in New York City, Bobby was never criminally charged for subornation of perjury or obstruction of justice.
