Attorney Madeline Melka of Hope, NM; unethical liar

The state of California provided Madeline Ellen Melka with a law license in 1987 after she graduated from Southwestern University of California Law School in Los Angeles, which is a 4th tier school dedicated to serving losers that couldn’t get accepted into mainstream schools like UCLA, Pepperdine, USC or Stanford.

The California Bar Court found Gene guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to perform legal services competently (moron)
  2. Withdrew from representation of a client without notify her client
  3. Failed to properly manage client trust account
  4. Failed to return unearned fees (crook)
  5. Failed to communicate with clients
  6. Made a misrepresentation (lied) to a trial court
In one matter, Madeline allowed the statute of limitations to expire in a personal injury case she was hired to prosecute. In another matter, Madeline failed to set up an interest bearing trust account as required by a trust agreement she entered into with her client.

In a separate matter, Madeline visited an inmate at a county jail with a former client, whom she variously described as an investigator, her paralegal, and an attorney employed in her office in order to gain access to the attorney interview room. As a result of her falsehoods, Madeline was criminally charged with false identification to secure admission, although the charges were later dropped.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Madeline by gifting him with a complimentary 75-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Madeline practices with the Law Offices of Madeline Melka in Hope, New Mexico.
