Attorney William Cooley of Albuquerque, NM; halfwit loser

 

The state of New Mexico presented William Joel Cooley with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from Columbia University School of Law.

 

The New Mexico Disciplinary Board found Billy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide competent representation (halfwit)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to promptly refund funds to which client was entitled
  • Failed to expedite client litigation
  • Failed to make reasonable effort s to ensure his firm had measures in effect that the conduct of Bill’s non-lawyer assistant was compatible with Bill’s professional obligations
  • Assisted a person not a member of the bar in engaging in the illegal practice of law
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to promptly remit funds owing to his client
  • Failed to keep client informed about status of matter
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to comply with client information request
  • Failed to provide sufficient information to allow clients to make informed decision about their legal matters
  • Failed to deposit advance and unearned fee payments in trust account
  • Failed to generate and maintain required trust account records
  • Failed to perform mandatory trust account reconciliations

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Mexico Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license. 

 

As we speak (ca. September 2021), Billy practices his so-called brand of law at 1412 Lomas Blvd in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
