Attorney William Brogan of Las Cruces, NM; ethical gremlin

The state of New Mexico presented William Hamer Brogan with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from the University of New Mexico Law School.

Billy’s misconduct took place while he was sitting as a judge on the 12th Judicial District Division in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

The Judicial Standards Commission found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with court rules involving criminal cases
  • Failed to dispose of cases promptly and efficiently
  • Field to know the rules for handling criminal cases
  • Failed to afford necessary docket time to discharge his judicial duties
  • Improperly vacated dates scheduled for hearings

Rather than wait for a decision regarding his misconduct to be handed down by the New Mexico Supreme Court, Billy took the coward’s way out and resigned from his judicial position.

As we speak (ca. June 2015), Billy practices at 5765 Vista Verde in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
